A traveling cage is a very important part of owning a rabbit. It allows you to be able to easily transport your bunny wherever you need to take them, and provides a safe space for them to be in.

But that gets us to the real question-What type do I need?

I personally have used a couple of cat carriers, 2 hole rabbit transport cages, a soft specialty cage, and a small dog carrier. Here are my pros and cons to each of them.

Cat carrier.

Pros: Easy to find and fairly inexpensive. Makes a good heavy duty carrier and they can be bought in a number of sizes.
Cons: Is made out of plastic, so if your rabbit chews it you need to find another option. I have never seen a rabbit chew this though..

Rabbit transport Cages.

Pros: Made out of wire so rabbits can’t chew it. Most cages also have a tray underneath to catch droppings. You can fit multiple rabbits into it, as there is metal deviders between each one. I would recommend this to anyone who has multiple rabbits or is breeding them.
Cons: Is more expensive then other options.

Soft Carrier.

Pros: Soft edges for anyone who is worried about wire or plastic edges.

Cons: Soft edges encourage chewing. It can also sag, as it is made out of soft material.

Small Dog Crate.
Pros: Is metal so rabbits can’t chew it. Large space for bunnies.

Cons: Very heavy and takes up a lot of room.
